2018 Compass: Performance Specs

All 2018 Compass trims are powered by a 2.4L I-4 engine, good for up to 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. In the base Sport trim, that comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, but all trim levels above that use a 6-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but four-wheel drive is available for a tractive off-roading experience.

Many Compass drivers will stick to the paved roads, but it's good to know the capabilities are there if and when you need them. A ground clearance of 8.5 inches, insulated electrical systems, quality body sealing, and a Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System allow you to drive on the most rugged of surfaces and navigate streams with ease.

Jeep Compass Interior Dimensions

In many ways, the Jeep Compass reflects the qualities of the Grand Cherokee when it comes to styling and materials in the interior. Cloth upholstery comes standard, in your choice of Black or Sandstorm, but you'll find plenty of leather and vinyl options as you move up the trims.

The Compass really excels in terms of cargo space. Innovations like a forward-folding front passenger seat and standard 60/40 split-folding rear seats helps when carrying longer items, like ladders or skis. The available 3-level adjustable cargo floor gives you multiple ways to configure your rear storage space.

That storage space in questions measures nearly 60 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded, giving you plenty of room to bring all your outdoors gear along for the ride.

Jeep Safety Features

The base trim of the 2018 Compass has a standard ParkView® Rear Backup Camera to help you see what's happening behind you as you reverse the car. With it, you can confirm what your own eyes are telling you. What's more, each trim makes the ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System available, for help navigating tight parking spaces.

Whether you're driving in a downpour or a light rain, the available rain-sensing windshield wipers are your friend. They'll activate automatically when rain or snow is detected, and the speed adjusts to match the intensity of the precipitation, all without you lifting a finger!
